Things to Do

This area is on the route of the National Memorial Marathon. You can find a great spot to watch as the runners pass through unless you choose to participate yourself. It's also home to Taste of Western, a food festival put on by the Western Avenue Association
 
For outdoor recreation at any time, you can visit the many parks in the area. Crown Heights Park is one possibility with lots of open green space. Douglas Park offers areas for picnicking and playing, while Guy James Park is on the other side of Edgemere Park, which provides space for soccer. Edgemere is one of the most highly rated in the area thanks to the creek that snakes through and its gorgeous scenery, particularly in the fall.
