When you're in the mood for sushi, Sushi Neko Robata and Sushi Bar is the best spot in town. It's well-rated thanks to its phenomenal food, excellent service, and unique atmosphere. For upscale American cuisine, visit Rococo on Western. There is a fireplace inside nestled amongst couch seating.
If you're looking for a live music venue, VZD's Restaurant & Bar is a hip spot to try. Dine on elevated pub food, including chili and cornbread, a grilled chicken Southwest wrap, and honey butter fried chicken sliders. Cock-O-The-Walk is another fun venue where you can play darts and pool or dine on some favorite menu selections. Patrons of the place say the food and service are fantastic.
For gourmet comfort foods, head up the road to Iron Star Urban Barbecue. A variety of house-smoked meats are served here, as well as classic sides like fried okra, mac n cheese, sweet potatoes, and potato salad. StellaNova is a wonderful cafe in the community when you need a morning pick-me-up. Sip your coffee and feast on a blueberry scone, breakfast sandwich, or chicken and waffles.
Things to Do
This area is on the route of the National Memorial Marathon. You can find a great spot to watch as the runners pass through unless you choose to participate yourself. It's also home to Taste of Western, a food festival put on by the Western Avenue Association.
For outdoor recreation at any time, you can visit the many parks in the area. Crown Heights Park is one possibility with lots of open green space. Douglas Park offers areas for picnicking and playing, while Guy James Park is on the other side of Edgemere Park, which provides space for soccer. Edgemere is one of the most highly rated in the area thanks to the creek that snakes through and its gorgeous scenery, particularly in the fall.
